DESCRIPTION:Take a ride on the cycling side See the natural side of the Bartow area from the seat of a bicycle during the annual Tour de Tow cycling event presented by Bartow Cycling Events and Road & Trail Bicycles on the third Saturday in September. \nRegistration starts at 7 a.m.\, and the ride at 8 a.m.  \nThis annual bicycling event takes riders through scenic southern Polk County scenery. It’s also an event that gives back to the community\, giving away more than 130 bicycles so far to kids in need. Power Pedalers is an effort to cultivate a healthy lifestyle and a love of cycling in kids.  \nThe on-road cycling tour offers a 17-mile Family Fun Ride\, $30 registration\nHalf Century Metric Ride (35 miles)\, $40 registration\nMetric Century Ride (62 miles)\, $45 registration.\nFor tandem riders\, add $25; to register on the day of the event\, add $5.  \nVehicle parking is in the Oaks Parking Lot\, 395 South Central Ave.\, across from the Post Office\, and a block south of the staging area\, Front Page Brewing Company on South Florida Avenue. \nEvery route has a SAG vehicle following with drinks\, snacks\, tubes and a pump. Everyone will receive a ride map that will have a number on it for emergencies or problems. This cycling tour is suitable for a variety of skill levels. SUMMARY:Bloomin' Bike Ride
DESCRIPTION:The largest organized road tour in Polk County\, Bloomin’ Bike Ride this is an on-road cycling tour along the scenic back roads of southern Polk County. Gently rolling roads take the cyclists across the Peace River Basin through expansive citrus groves and around the old Florida backwoods. Additionally\, this is a cycling event that sets Bartow apart by providing great cycling support via fully stocked rest stops with friendly volunteers\, Sheriff Deputy escorts\, trailing vehicles for assistance and aid\, course photographer\, and great food provided by some of Bartow’s finest restaurants. \nThis is also the only ride that gives the opportunity to one of the participating cyclists the chance to be the featured poster cyclist via an Artistic Motion Drawing through the registrations pulled the day of the ride. The winner is photographed on the course at some point and has a logo designed by LillyCat Design Studio\, with his or her image\, which then becomes the next year’s ride logo on all print media and the ride shirt. The cyclist also receives a wall hanging with the featured logo. \nThis year’s ride will feature a 62 and 35 mile road tour and a 17 mile family fun ride. The staging area for the ride will be at Fort Blount Park\, at the corner of Main Street and Broadway Avenue in Bartow.
