Arthur Blake
Arthur Blake is a world-class hurdler whose journey in track and field began in Haines City, Florida, where he improvised by jumping over homemade hurdles on a clay road. His dedication and natural talent propelled him to the national and international stage, culminating in appearances at two Olympic Games: Seoul, Korea in 1988 and Barcelona, Spain in 1992.
Blake reached the pinnacle of his career at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, finishing 8th in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.96 seconds. His early accomplishments included winning the Florida State High School Hurdles Championship in both 1983 and 1984, signaling his potential as one of the nation’s top hurdlers.
While competing for Florida State University, Blake earned All-American honors in both the 55-meter indoor hurdles and the 110-meter outdoor hurdles. He remains the holder of the all-time record for the 110-meter hurdles at FSU with a time of 13.29 seconds, a testament to his speed, precision, and consistency.
