Lee Janzen

Lee Janzen is the most famous and successful athlete to come out of Florida Southern College’s famed sports program. While he had an outstanding college career, he has far surpassed his collegiate accomplishments with his feats on the PGA TourIn college, Janzen won the 1986 NCAA Division II individual championship and finished second in 1985. He led the 1984, 1985 and 1986 teams in stroke average and his 71.81 average in 1986 stood as a school record for ten seasons. Janzen was named a first-team All-American in 1985 and 1986 and a second team selection in 1984. That was only the beginning for this PGA star. Janzen turned pro in 1986 and was the leading money winner on the U.S. Golf Tour in 1989. His first PGA Tour victory came in 1992 at the Northern Telcom Open. He has since gone on to win eight PGA Tour tournaments, including two U.S. Open Championships (1993 and 1998) and the Players Championship (1995). He has exceeded the $1-million mark in earnings four times in his career. Janzen has also been a mark of consistency on the Tour, finishing in the top 10 among money winners three times in his career and was a member of two Ryder Cup teams (1993, 1997) and a Presidents Cup team (1998). He continues to compete on the Tour, finishing in the top ten at the Bell South Classic in March. Janzen is also a member of the Florida Southern College and Sunshine Sate Conference Hall of Fame.
