As the men’s basketball coach of Webber International University, John Dunlap compiled a record of 208 wins and 220 losses during his 13 seasons with the Warriors. During his tenure at Webber International University John led the basketball team to two NAIA National Tournaments and a perfect 17-0 record in the Florida Sun Conference in the 1992-1993 season. The Florida Sun Conference named John the conference Coach of the Year in 1993 and 1994.

While leading the Southeastern University men’s basketball program, Dunlap coached the team to a record of 218 wins and 108 losses, including a 40 game South Conference unbeaten streak from 2003 to 2006. As Southeastern’s head basketball coach the Fire won five NCCAA II South Region Championships and made seven NCCAA II National Tournament appearances In his team’s NCCAA II National Tournament appearances, Southeastern University advanced to four Final Fours and two National Championship Finals, winning the NCCAA II National Championship in 2005. The NCCAA twice honored John as their NCCAA II South Coach of the Year in 2004 and 2009.

In all, John Dunlap has recorded 426 wins, all with college basketball programs in Polk County, which stands as the record for Polk County college basketball coaches.
