Winter Park wins big on first night of Miss Florida

LAKELAND – Representatives from Winter Park walked away with wins during the first round of the Miss Florida and Miss Florida Teen Competition held Thursday night at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland.

In the evening wear portion of the event, Ruby Tilghman, Winter Park’s Outstanding Teen, and Lindsay Bettis, Miss Winter Park, both won their respective preliminary events.

In the talent portion of the evening, Anna-Katherine Risalvato, Polk County’s Outstanding Teen, won for her dance routine, while Miss St. Petersburg, Alana Scheuerer won her portion of the talent preliminary with a tap dance routine to Adele’s hit song, “Rolling in the Deep.”

Winnings for the night were a $200 scholarship for the teens and a $300 scholarship for the miss candidates.

The second round of preliminaries for the other half of the candidates is Friday evening. The finale for the teens starts Saturday at 3 p.m. while the Miss Florida finale starts at 7:30 p.m.
